Saharsa: Bihar is preparing to add another attraction to its tourism map with the construction of a glass bridge in Saharsa district, the state’s second such structure after Rajgir. The project, estimated to cost Rs.98 crore, is expected to provide a major boost to tourism and development in the Kosi region.
The bridge is part of a wider plan to redevelop Matsyagandha Lake, long considered a neglected site. The new attraction will feature a circular glass bridge, giving visitors the sensation of walking on water. Complementary facilities will include a musical fountain, light and sound show, food court, selfie points, parking areas and public conveniences.
A 400-metre-long ghat will also be built around the lake to provide panoramic views and leisure space for tourists. Officials say the improvements are aimed at making Saharsa a more appealing destination for both local visitors and tourists from neighbouring states.
“The project will not just bring in tourists but also stimulate economic growth in the district,” an official said, noting that hotels, restaurants and small businesses are expected to benefit from the increased footfall.
Local residents have welcomed the project, saying it will create new employment opportunities and help Saharsa shed its image as a remote and underdeveloped district.
The glass bridge at Matsyagandha Lake is part of Bihar’s broader push to promote tourism as a driver of growth, while also giving residents a reason to take pride in local landmarks.
