Patna: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has announced the official notification for the Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd) Joint Entrance Examination for the 2026–28 academic session, providing aspiring teachers in Bihar an opportunity to pursue a career in elementary education. Applications will be accepted online from December 11 to 24 via bsebdeled.com.
Candidates who qualify will be eligible for admission to 306 DElEd colleges across the state. Eligibility criteria require a minimum of 50% marks in Class 12, with a 5% relaxation for candidates from SC, ST, OBC, EBC, and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories. Those who have cleared the Maulvi examination are also eligible under the same criteria. College allotment will be based on merit and rank.
Career Pathways After DElEd
Successful candidates completing the DElEd course can teach classes 1 to 8. However, permanent appointment in Bihar government schools requires passing two additional examinations: the State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) or Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), and the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) teacher recruitment exam.
Application Fee and Process
The application fee has been set according to category:
- General, EWS, BC, EBC: Rs 960
- SC, ST, PwD: Rs 760
Payment must be made online.
Applicants must complete the registration and submission process on the official portal, which includes providing personal details, educational qualifications, identity proof, and payment of the application fee. A confirmation page should be downloaded for future reference.
Exam Pattern and Passing Criteria
The DElEd entrance exam will consist of 120 multiple-choice questions, each carrying one mark. Subject-wise distribution is as follows:
