Patna: The Bihar government has taken special steps to help Kanwariyas during the holy month of Shravan. The Tourism Department has started a toll-free number, 18003097677, where pilgrims can get all important information about Shravani Mela. This number will provide details of mobile contacts, facilities on the route, and in special cases, connect pilgrims directly to nodal officers for help.
To support the devotees, 12 temporary tourist information centres have been set up from Sultanganj to Dumma. These centres are at places like Sultanganj Railway Station, Bus Stand, Tent City, Dhandi Bellary, Kumarsar, Dhori, Suiya, Abarkha, Katoria, Inaravaran, Dumma, and Basukinath Path. Free brochures are also being given to Kanwariyas to guide them properly during their journey.
The Tourism Department has arranged many permanent facilities too. At Sultanganj Ghat and Ajaibinath, changing rooms, solar lights, and benches have been installed. Rain shelters, toilets, and health centres are ready at Dhandi Bellary, Munger, Lulha Shivlok, and Chihutjor. Wayside facilities with food kiosks, dining areas, ATMs, reception counters, and tourist information centres have been built at Jalebiya and Suiya to help pilgrims throughout their route.
To make the journey safer and easier, more than 3,300 benches, over 1,000 RCC Kanwar stands, and 180 solar street lights have been installed along the Kanwariya route from Sultanganj to the Bihar border. These efforts show that the government wants to ensure the Kanwariyas have a comfortable and peaceful journey to offer prayers in this holy month.
