Bhagalpur: Bihar has once again demonstrated its agricultural excellence on the national stage. At the 21st Foundation Day ceremony of the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority (PPV&FRA), held in New Delhi, the state secured two distinguished national awards.
The Mithilanchal Makhana Producers’ Association received the Plant Genome Saviour Community Award (2022–23), while progressive farmer Nakul Singh of Rohtas was honoured with the Plant Genome Saviour Farmer Award for his exceptional work on the Kheermohan paddy variety.
Expressing pride in this achievement, BAU Sabour Vice-Chancellor Dr. D.R. Singh said the recognition reflects the university’s dedication to promoting innovation and sustainability among Bihar’s farmers. He called the success of Mithilanchal Makhana Producers and Nakul Singh “an inspiration for all progressive farmers.”
Association President Binita Devi attributed the award to “the tireless efforts of our farmers,” while Nakul Singh expressed heartfelt gratitude to BAU Sabour for their guidance and support, calling it “a proud moment for Bihar’s farming community.”
