Patna: The Bihar Tourism Department has received applications from 132 social media influencers and content creators for a video-making competition aimed at giving the Shravani Mela greater national and international visibility.
Titled ‘Shravani Mela 2026: Through an Influencer’s Lens’, the competition seeks to use social media content to showcase the religious and cultural heritage associated with the annual pilgrimage.
The applications will now be scrutinised, following which the creators of the best videos and reels will be selected for prizes.
Prizes up to Rs 3 lakh
The competition offers Rs 3 lakh for the first position, Rs 2 lakh for second and Rs 1 lakh for third.
Two fourth-place winners will receive Rs 50,000 each, while five participants will receive appreciation awards of Rs 25,000 each.
The initiative was aimed at attracting creators with an established social media presence who can present Bihar’s religious and cultural heritage to large audiences.
Who can participate?
Participants must be Indian citizens aged above 18 and must have a combined following of at least 25,000 across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube.
The entries are required to focus specifically on the Shravani Mela and Kanwariya Path in Munger, Banka and Bhagalpur.
Each video or reel must be between 30 seconds and two minutes long. Content unrelated to the Shravani Mela will be disqualified.
Videos must meet technical requirements
Applicants are required to submit their entries through a Google Form made available through the Tourism Department’s official website.
Participants must provide personal details, including their name, address, date of birth and contact information, along with valid identity proof. They must also submit a brief description of each video, limited to 50 words in Hindi or English.
According to the competition guidelines, submitted videos must be in HD quality, with file sizes ranging from 100 MB to 1 GB.
The videos must also be geo-tagged. Selected participants may be asked to provide the raw footage to the Tourism Department if required.
The initiative is intended to leverage the reach of social media creators to present the Shravani Mela and its associated pilgrimage routes to audiences beyond Bihar, while highlighting the state’s religious and cultural heritage.
