Patna/Nepal: In a move to prevent spillover from unrest in Nepal, Bihar has sealed the borders of six districts adjoining the country, restricting the movement of tourists and intensifying security operations.
The districts affected include West Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Araria, Supaul, East Champaran, and Kishanganj. Local authorities have instructed residents that movement across the border is permitted only after verification, and strict searches are being conducted.
The Patna Frontier Headquarters of the Border Security Force has deployed personnel to all border posts and remains on alert alongside local police. Superintendents of Police in border districts are reporting continuously to the state police control room, coordinating closely to manage any potential incidents.
According to Pankaj Kumar Darad, Additional Director General of Law and Order, the international borders adjoining Bihar will remain sealed until the situation stabilises. Intelligence agencies are monitoring the region closely, and measures are in place to evacuate any Indian citizens caught near the Nepal border.
Authorities have also issued a complete ban on tourist travel in the region, citing safety concerns amid ongoing violent protests in Nepal.
