Patna: A schoolteacher was abducted in broad daylight in Bihar’s Saran district on Tuesday, prompting a police search and raising concerns about public safety in the area.
The incident took place in the Baniapur police station area when Kundan Kumar, 35, a teacher at an upgraded middle school in Karahi village, was travelling to work on his motorcycle. According to police and eyewitnesses, a group of assailants in a Scorpio vehicle intercepted him and forcibly took him away.
Witnesses said the attackers acted swiftly, leaving little time for intervention. The assailants also took Kumar’s motorcycle with them, suggesting the abduction was planned rather than spontaneous.
Kumar, a resident of Piyano village under Kopa police station limits, has not yet been traced. His family members said they were shocked by the incident and expressed concern over his safety, while residents questioned policing arrangements in the area.
Following the abduction, police teams from Baniapur and Kopa stations launched a joint investigation. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations to identify the vehicle and trace the movement of the suspects. Family members are also being questioned to determine whether the teacher had any known disputes or threats.
Police officials said efforts were underway to locate Kumar and assured that the case would be resolved soon. Meanwhile, the incident has caused anxiety among teachers in the region, many of whom have called for improved security measures while commuting to and from schools.
