Kaimur/Patna: Chief minister Samrat Choudhary has announced that teachers in the state will be given greater flexibility in transfers, including postings in neighbouring panchayats and blocks, as part of efforts to improve convenience and strengthen school functioning.
Speaking at a public meeting in Kaimur, Choudhary said the government was making transfer norms easier but would not compromise on teaching standards.
He said teachers would still be expected to maintain regular classroom engagement and ensure students’ learning.
Postings closer to home
The chief minister said the revised approach would allow teachers to work closer to their native villages or homes.
He said women teachers would be considered for postings in panchayats adjoining their homes, while male teachers could be placed in nearby blocks to reduce travel burdens.
According to Choudhary, the changes are aimed at making postings more practical while addressing concerns raised by teaching staff.
Government stresses accountability
Alongside the transfer relief, Choudhary said teachers must remain committed to their duties.
He said the state government expected full participation in classroom teaching and that convenience in posting should not affect educational delivery.
The remarks come amid ongoing discussions around teacher deployment, attendance and academic standards in Bihar’s government schools.
Focus on school infrastructure and learning
The chief minister said Bihar’s school infrastructure had seen significant expansion and improvement in recent years.
He said around 75,000 government schools across the state had been opened or upgraded, with the next priority being to improve the quality of education.
Choudhary said the government’s focus was on ensuring that children from economically weaker and farming families receive access to better educational opportunities.
