Darbhanga: A painful road accident took place in Darbhanga district of Bihar on Tuesday morning. A sub-inspector posted at the District Transport Officer (DTO) office lost his life while two other staff with him were seriously injured. The accident happened in the Shobhan area when the officers had gone out on duty for inspection work.
Police said that the team was inspecting vehicles in the area when suddenly a speeding vehicle came and hit their official car. The collision was so strong that the vehicle was completely damaged. The sub-inspector died on the spot due to his severe injuries. Local people rushed to help and informed the police about the accident.
The two other injured personnel were quickly taken to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for treatment. Doctors say their condition is critical and they are under constant observation. Police are trying to confirm the identity of the deceased sub-inspector officially, but sources said he worked in the DTO office and had gone for a routine inspection in the morning.
At present, police are searching for the unknown vehicle and its driver who ran away after the accident. Nearby CCTV cameras are being checked to trace the accused. The sudden death of the officer has caused sadness among his colleagues and local people in the area.
