Patna: Bihar Governor and Chancellor Syed Ata Hasnain has announced a series of measures aimed at improving governance and academic administration in state universities.
Under the new initiative, universities that effectively implement the Samarth portal in mission mode and demonstrate strong performance will receive an incentive grant of Rs One lakh.
Samarth portal implementation made mandatory
All universities have been directed to implement every module of the Samarth portal and carry out academic and administrative work exclusively through the platform.
The portal will be used for admissions, examination management, publication of results, teacher and staff management, attendance monitoring, leave management, service-related matters and salary payments.
Nodal and vigilance officers to be appointed
To strengthen monitoring and execution, Bihar Lok Bhavan will appoint a nodal officer in each university for the operation and supervision of the portal.
Chief vigilance officers will also be designated to oversee monitoring and ensure compliance with the system.
Universities directed to follow academic calendar
The Governor has instructed universities to strictly adhere to the academic calendar to improve administrative efficiency and academic discipline.
The move is part of a broader effort by the state government and Lok Bhavan to bring qualitative improvements to higher education institutions in Bihar.
Universities asked to submit vacancy details
Hasnain also directed vice-chancellors to take immediate steps to address shortages of teaching and non-teaching staff.
Universities have been asked to submit details of vacant posts to Bihar Lok Bhavan for further action.
