Patna: More than 3,000 vigilance complaints remain pending across Bihar’s government departments, with the education, urban development, home, revenue, and agriculture departments accounting for the highest number of cases, officials said on Wednesday.
The status of the complaints was reviewed at a meeting chaired by Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, the additional chief secretary of Bihar’s vigilance department, at Suchna Bhavan here on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by chief vigilance officers from all departments.
Officials said the complaints had been submitted through the state’s online vigilance grievance system, which was introduced last year to improve tracking and speed up case disposal. While the system has improved monitoring, Chaudhary expressed concern over delays in departmental action and directed officials to resolve pending cases without further delay.
Jitendra Singh Gangwar, director general of the Vigilance Investigation Bureau, said the bureau had also launched its own online portal to strengthen case management. He added that 122 vigilance cases were registered in the past year, of which 102 involved trap operations.
The meeting also reviewed delays in granting prosecution sanctions, with 53 cases found to be pending across departments. The highest number of such cases was reported in the water resources, parliamentary affairs, education, health, and general administration departments.
Chaudhary instructed departments to expedite decisions on prosecution approvals and stressed the need for regular oversight. He directed that monthly review meetings be held by chief vigilance officers in all departments to ensure consistent monitoring of vigilance-related matters.
Senior officials present at the meeting included the deputy inspectors general of the Vigilance Investigation Bureau and the Special Vigilance Unit, along with senior secretaries, legal officers, and technical audit officials.
