Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has stepped up efforts to manage construction and demolition (C&D) waste in a bid to tackle air pollution and improve the city’s cleanliness. Debris from building and demolition activities is a significant source of dust and environmental degradation in the city.
The PMC has instructed residents, builders, and construction agencies to refrain from dumping waste on roads or in open areas, directing them instead to deposit it at designated C&D secondary points. All under-construction buildings and commercial establishments are now required to install green mesh to contain dust. Non-compliance or illegal dumping could result in fines of up to Rs 1,500.
To assist citizens, the PMC offers a debris removal service at Rs 600 per trip, accessible via the toll-free number 155304. A WhatsApp chatbot at 9264447449 also provides information on the service.
The designated C&D secondary points across Patna are:
- Bankipur Zone: Near Maharana Pratap Marriage Hall, Arya Kumar Road, 800004
- Azimabad Zone: Opposite Big Hospital, Pahari, 800007
- Patna City Zone: Near Patna Ghat, Malsalami Police Station, 800008
- Patliputra Zone: Patliputra Colony, Near Water Tank, 800013
- Kankarbagh Zone: Near NRL Petrol Pump, Transport Nagar, 800026
- Nutun Rajdhani Zone: Khagaul Road, Gardanibagh, 800001
The municipal authorities have urged all stakeholders to cooperate in scientific waste disposal to make Patna cleaner, greener, and free from pollution.
