The continuous downpour in Nepal’s Terai region has raised the risk of flooding in the Kosi River, with the water level at the Kosi Barrage crossing 271,000 cusecs. In response, the administration has opened 25 gates to relieve pressure. The Kanakayi River is also in spate, submerging parts of Mandirtola village near its foothills. District officials have urged residents to move to safer areas as floodwaters rise.
Thunderstorms with winds of 30 to 40 kmph are expected in several parts of North, South-Central, and South-Eastern Bihar. The Disaster Management Department has issued alerts to all affected districts, urging caution and preparedness.
In Patna, intermittent rain continued through Saturday, accompanied by strong winds that brought a mild chill to the air. Waterlogging was reported in several low-lying areas, disrupting normal life. The city’s maximum temperature dropped to 28°C, while the minimum stood at 26.4°C.
Officials in flood-prone districts remain on alert. Nirmali Sub-Divisional Officer Vijay Pratap and Revenue Officer Shahina Begum carried out surprise inspections of flood-affected areas on Saturday evening, including Dagmara, Dighiya, and Kamalpur, to monitor rising water levels.
The IMD has forecast continued cloudy conditions and sporadic rainfall in Patna and adjoining areas on Sunday. With heavy rainfall expected to persist until midweek, the threat of flash floods and river overflow looms large across North Bihar.
