Patna: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast an active spell of the southwest monsoon across Bihar over the next three days, issuing an Orange Alert for 12 districts on July 1 as heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected to affect large parts of the state.
According to the Patna Meteorological Centre, the monsoon will be most active across northern and western Bihar on Tuesday before shifting towards central and southern districts later in the week.
Orange Alert For 12 Districts On July 1
The IMD has issued an Orange Alert for West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Darbhanga, Madhubani and Samastipur.
These districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph.
A Yellow Alert has been issued for Patna and 26 other districts, including Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Arwal, Jehanabad, Aurangabad, Gaya, Nalanda, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Khagaria, Munger, Jamui, Banka, Bhagalpur, Saharsa, Madhepura, Supaul, Purnia, Araria, Katihar and Kishanganj, where light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms are forecast.
Rain To Continue On July 2
For July 2, the IMD has retained the Orange Alert for West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Buxar, Bhojpur, Kaimur, Rohtas and Aurangabad, warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Patna, Gaya, Arwal, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Vaishali, Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Khagaria, Munger, Jamui, Banka, Bhagalpur, Saharsa, Madhepura, Supaul, Purnia, Araria, Katihar and Kishanganj remain under a Yellow Alert, with light showers, thunderstorms and lightning expected.

Monsoon To Shift South On July 3
The weather department expects the focus of monsoon activity to shift towards central and southern Bihar on July 3.
An Orange Alert has been issued for Buxar, Bhojpur, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Arwal, Jehanabad, Patna, Nalanda, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai and Begusarai, where heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning are likely.
Meanwhile, West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Khagaria, Munger and Jamui remain under a Yellow Alert for light to moderate rainfall.
No Weather Warnings For Parts Of Eastern Bihar
The IMD has not issued any weather warnings for several districts in eastern Bihar and the Kosi-Seemanchal region, including Supaul, Saharsa, Madhepura, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Banka, Purnia, Araria, Katihar and Kishanganj.
While rainfall may still occur in some of these districts, meteorologists said no severe weather conditions are currently expected there.
