Patna: Bihar has recorded 1,98,660 applications from eligible citizens seeking inclusion in the electoral roll under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision. Election officials confirmed that the majority of these applications have come from youth above 18 who are registering to vote for the first time.
Alongside the fresh registrations, 60,010 claims and objections have been submitted on the draft voter list, published on August 1. The Election Commission has already resolved 2,394 of these, with the remaining to be addressed within the mandated seven days.
Despite 1,60,813 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) being appointed by 12 recognised national and state parties, none have so far filed a claim or objection on the draft roll.
