Patna: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is preparing for a roadshow and public felicitation in Patna on December 23 to mark the first visit of its newly appointed national working president, Nitin Nabin, since his elevation to the post.
Announcing the programme at a press conference, the BJP’s Bihar state president, Sanjay Saraogi, said Nabin would arrive at Patna airport at about 12.30pm, where he would be received by senior party leaders and workers. A roadshow is scheduled to follow from the airport along Bailey Road, with party supporters planning welcome events at several points on the route.
According to party leaders, the procession will include stops at key landmarks, including statues of B R Ambedkar near the Patna high court and other prominent intersections, before proceeding towards Rajvanshi Nagar. Nabin is also expected to offer prayers at the Hanuman temple there.
A large felicitation ceremony is planned later in the day at the Miller High School ground, which is expected to be attended by senior BJP leaders, elected representatives and party workers from across the state. Saraogi said the event would underline the party’s organisational strength and signal its future political strategy in Bihar.
Nabin’s appointment has been highlighted by the BJP as significant, with party sources noting that he is the first leader from Bihar to hold the post of national working president. The party leadership has described his rise from student politics to senior organisational roles as an example of its emphasis on promoting grassroots workers.
There is also speculation within the party that the Union home minister, Amit Shah, may attend the roadshow, though no official confirmation has been given.
A five-time legislator from Patna’s Bankipur constituency, Nabin has previously served as Bihar’s road construction minister. Party leaders say his organisational experience and rapport with workers were key factors in his appointment, which they see as part of preparations for upcoming electoral challenges.
