Patna: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s state headquarters in Patna turned into a scene of celebration after the party’s victories in West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry. Party workers began arriving as soon as early counting trends showed the BJP taking the lead, and within hours the premises were filled with cheering supporters. The mood was festive, with people raising slogans, dancing to the beat of drums and celebrating what they described as a major political moment.
Sweets were distributed widely among workers, but it was the sharing of jhalmuri, a popular puffed rice snack, that stood out during the celebrations. Supporters offered food to each other as a gesture of joy and unity. Fireworks lit up the sky while traditional nagara drums added to the lively atmosphere, making the gathering feel more like a festival than a political event. The celebrations continued throughout the day, with no sign of the excitement slowing down.
Senior leaders joined the workers, adding to the enthusiasm. State BJP president Sanjay Saraogi and former deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Sinha were present at the headquarters, along with several MLAs, MLCs and party officials. Former minister Rama Nishad and MLCs Devesh Kumar and Arvind Sharma also took part in the celebrations. Leaders interacted with workers and shared in their excitement.
Speaking at the event, Saraogi described the outcome as a “historic victory” and said it reflected the public’s trust in the leadership of prime minister Narendra Modi. He added that the results showed people were supporting development-focused politics. He also credited the party’s organisational strength and the strategy guided by home minister Amit Shah for the success.
Saraogi said the results, especially in West Bengal, sent a strong message against what he called politics based on fear and appeasement. According to him, voters now want change and progress. He also praised party workers for their dedication, saying their hard work played a key role in achieving the victories.
As the day went on, thousands of supporters continued to celebrate together at the headquarters. The atmosphere remained energetic well into the evening, with chants, music and fireworks filling the air. For many party workers in Patna, the victories were not just about electoral success in other states, but a moment of pride and collective achievement.
