Patna: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on Jan Suraj founder Prashant Kishor, alleging his involvement in a criminal conspiracy and accusing him of fraud and data theft.
Addressing the media, BJP’s chief spokesperson Danish Iqbal claimed that Kishor’s “real face” had been exposed. “He is not a leader but a political thief,” Iqbal said, adding that the charges against him were not minor, but evidence of a “well-planned forgery”.
The party cited case number 94/2020, registered at Patliputra police station in Patna, under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 471 (using forged document as genuine), 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), and 120B (criminal conspiracy). Kishor is currently out on bail in the case.
Echoing the allegations, BJP press panelist Neeraj Kumar said, “Prashant Kishor, who preaches morality to others, is himself accused of serious criminal offences. He should apologise to the people of Bihar instead of spreading confusion through lies.”
According to BJP leaders, the complaint in the case was filed by one Shashwat Gautam, who identified himself as a Congress worker. In his FIR dated 25 February 2020, Gautam alleged that his former associate Osama Khurshid stole his laptop containing campaign data for a political initiative titled Bihar Ki Baat. The stolen data, he claimed, was handed over to Kishor, who later launched a similar campaign under the same name.
BJP leaders alleged that Khurshid was acting on Kishor’s instructions and accused the Jan Suraj leader of masterminding the theft.
