Patna: A joint review meeting on pre-monsoon preparations was held at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall, Patna, with senior officials from the Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (BUIDCo), the district administration and the Patna Municipal Corporation in attendance on June 10.
The meeting was chaired by BUIDCo Managing Director Animesh Kumar Parashar. Patna District Magistrate Dr. Thiyagarajan S.M. and Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena were also present. Discussions focused on strengthening preparedness to address waterlogging and emergency situations during the upcoming monsoon season.
Focus on Monsoon Preparedness
Officials reviewed operational readiness of drainage systems, pumping arrangements and inter-departmental coordination mechanisms. Emphasis was placed on ensuring timely response in vulnerable zones across the city.
BUIDCo Managing Director Animesh Kumar Parashar directed field teams to remain active immediately after the issuance of weather alerts issued by the Meteorological Department. He said a graded action plan would be implemented for rapid response during Yellow, Orange and Red alerts.

Administrative Instructions
District Magistrate Dr. Thiyagarajan S.M. said all departments must act with urgency and sensitivity in handling waterlogging situations. He added that the Additional District Magistrate had already conducted ground inspections in affected areas.
“We must address the challenges of waterlogging with seriousness and sensitivity,” he said.
Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena instructed civic teams to remain on 24×7 alert and ensure immediate response to any emergency situation. He also directed regular field inspections during the pre-monsoon period and stronger coordination between departments.
Key Decisions and Directives
Officials issued several operational instructions during the meeting, including:
- Engineers from BUIDCO and the Municipal Corporation will define water-level limits for pumps to prevent excess accumulation
- Action will be taken against officials and agencies where pump systems fail to operate
- Adequate sandbag stocks will be maintained in every zone
- Pumps will be pre-positioned in identified vulnerable locations
- Night shifts will be ensured at high-risk sites with staff and drivers stationed within wards
- Continuous monitoring of equipment and inventory will be conducted at the zone level
- FIRs will be registered in cases of deliberate damage to public property
The meeting was attended by executive officers, executive engineers, BUIDCO project officials and senior representatives from concerned departments, officials said.
