Patna: The investigation into the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant in Jehanabad has gathered momentum, with India’s premier investigative agency, the Central Bureau of Investigation, initiating forensic examination of crucial digital evidence. Officials have begun analysing CCTV footage, DVR devices and mobile phone data to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the student’s death.
Sources said the agency is reviewing forensic reports of CCTV recordings and related DVR equipment previously seized by a Special Investigation Team. Investigators are studying each frame of the footage in an effort to establish a clear timeline and identify any suspicious movement or activity that may shed light on the circumstances surrounding the case.
In parallel, the CBI is conducting a technical analysis of a mobile phone recovered from the victim’s brother in Makhdumpur. The examination includes call detail records, chat histories, location data and other digital traces that could provide investigative leads. Officials have so far refrained from making any formal statement on the progress of the probe.
Meanwhile, police have launched a separate inquiry after the victim’s family reported receiving threatening pamphlets following the student’s death in Patna. A district forensic team, along with officers from Shakurabad police station, visited the family’s village to inspect the site where the notes were allegedly thrown into the house.
Forensic experts collected samples from the kitchen area and around a window through which the pamphlets were reportedly delivered on February 13 and 17. The window, fitted only with a grill, allows objects to be easily tossed inside. Authorities said the investigation is aimed at identifying those responsible for issuing threats and determining whether the incidents are linked to the student’s death.
The victim’s father said the family continues to feel unsafe due to the repeated threats. Security has been enhanced, with one sub-inspector, two police personnel and a watchman deployed at the residence. Despite these measures, the family has reported further instances of threatening pamphlets being thrown into the premises, adding to concerns over their safety as the investigation continues.
