Purnia: Union minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan turned his rally in Purnia on Saturday into a fiery political pitch, pressing his party’s demand for greater prominence within the NDA alliance ahead of the Bihar assembly elections.
Addressing thousands at the Nav Sankalp Mahasabha, Chirag invoked the legacy of Bhola Paswan Shastri—the state’s first Dalit chief minister—on his birth anniversary, before laying out his vision of “Bihar First, Bihari First.” He argued that Bihar remained trapped in poverty and migration decades after independence, contrasting its underdevelopment with the prosperity of Delhi and Mumbai.

“Ask those who come to you for votes why Bihar has not developed in the last 30 years,” Chirag said, accusing rival parties of betraying the state while focusing only on caste politics. Recasting the “MY” (Muslim-Yadav) equation long associated with RJD, Chirag declared: “My equation is women and youth. Women are half the population and 65% of Bihar’s people are under 35. Strengthen my hands and we will build a developed Bihar together.”
Chirag also struck a defiant tone over past attempts to sideline him, saying he had been “separated from my family, thrown out of my home, and targeted,” but insisted: “I am the son of a lion. I will not break or bow.”

The rally, held at Purnia’s Rangbhoomi ground, was also addressed by party leaders including Jamui MP Arun Bharti, Vaishali MP Veena Devi, Samastipur MP Shambhavi Chaudhary, and Khagaria MP Rajesh Verma. The event comes at a time when NDA partners, including the BJP and JD(U), are locked in intense negotiations over seat-sharing, with Chirag Paswan seeking to assert his party’s role as kingmaker in the coalition.
