Patna: Senior BJP leader and former Union minister Ashwini Choubey has dismissed Prashant Kishor’s barrage of allegations against the party’s Bihar leadership, telling the Jan Suraaj Party founder to seek redress through the courts and constitutional authorities rather than the press.
“Prashant Kishor cannot become a prominent politician by making allegations,” Choubey told a digital news channel on Tuesday. “Why should he stop at newspapers? Go to the court, the governor, the president, even the prime minister. Who is stopping you?”
Kishor has in recent weeks accused BJP leaders including deputy chief minister Samrat Choudhary, minister Mangal Pandey, state president Dilip Jaiswal and MP Sanjay Jaiswal of corruption and criminal misconduct, sparking turbulence in Patna’s political circles ahead of the assembly polls.
Choubey suggested that the BJP’s central leadership was monitoring the situation closely: “The leadership is keeping a close eye on every detail. They are watching everything, they know everything. Whatever is right will prevail in the end.”
Responding to allegations against Samrat Choudhary in particular, Choubey noted that those named had already given clarifications. “Whether the clarifications are right or not will be decided by the courts and authorities,” he said.
The former health minister also touched on his own political record, disclosing that he had opposed his son Aarjit Shashwat’s candidature in Bhagalpur during the 2015 assembly elections. He said that while then BJP president Amit Shah insisted Aarjit should run due to his membership record, he warned it would bring him disrepute.
