Patna: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday inaugurated a newly constructed Legislative Council Guest House in Patna, alongside a canteen, library building and community centre aimed at improving facilities for members of the state’s upper house.
The inauguration, carried out under the MLA Housing Scheme, was marked by the unveiling of a commemorative plaque and a ceremonial ribbon-cutting.

Following the ceremony, Nitish inspected the five-storey guest house — comprising a basement, ground floor and four upper floors — and reviewed the amenities on offer. He toured multiple sections, including the first floor and terrace, and said the facility had been built to a “very high standard”.
Designed exclusively for members of the Bihar Legislative Council, the guest house includes 30 suite rooms equipped with kitchenettes, drawing rooms and attached bedrooms, along with four lounges and a dedicated security lounge. An eight-person capacity elevator has also been installed.

The adjoining canteen and library building, a two-storey structure, houses dining halls, kitchens, storage and service areas in the canteen section, while the library section includes administrative offices, a library hall and reading spaces spread across two floors.
A separate community centre — also two storeys — features halls, kitchen facilities, storage areas and other amenities intended to support official and social functions.

Among those present at the event were deputy chief ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Bihar Legislative Council chairman Awadhesh Narain Singh, and Bihar Legislative Assembly speaker Prem Kumar, along with several ministers, legislators and senior officials.
Officials said the new infrastructure is expected to improve working and residential conditions for council members, while strengthening institutional facilities within the state legislature.
