Vaishali: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday visited Mahua in Vaishali district as part of his ongoing Samriddhi Yatra, inspecting infrastructure works, reviewing government schemes and interacting with women’s self-help groups linked to the Jeevika programme.
Accompanied by deputy chief ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, he inspected desilting work on the Vaya river and issued directions to officials to ensure timely completion. He later reviewed an exhibition showcasing departmental schemes announced during the progress journey and visited the outpatient department and emergency ward of the state medical college in Mahua.

The chief minister also toured stalls set up by various departments, as well as local startup and innovation exhibits, seeking updates from officials on the implementation of schemes. A large number of Jeevika women were present at the exhibition, displaying products developed through self-help groups.

CM Nitish praised the work of the Jeevika groups and interacted with members to learn about their activities and livelihoods. He directed officials to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the intended beneficiaries and warned against negligence at any level.

During the visit, he laid the foundation stone for 25 projects worth Rs 54 crore and inaugurated 103 schemes with a total outlay of Rs 98 crore. Officials said the announcements generated enthusiasm among departmental staff and participating self-help groups.

Later in the day, the chief minister travelled to the Bateshwar Nath Dham complex in Jandaha block, where he was received by Janata Dal (United) state president Umesh Kushwaha and other party leaders. He is scheduled to address a public interaction programme there. Deputy chief ministers Choudhary and Sinha, minister Lakhendra Roshan, several MLAs and local representatives were also present.
