Patna: Bihar’s firefighting infrastructure received a major boost on Monday after the state government inducted 80 high-tech vehicles into the Fire Services Department during an event at Gandhi Maidan.

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary flagged off the new fleet in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary and minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav.

The newly inducted fleet includes 36 Scorpio SUVs, which officials said will help firefighters respond more quickly to emergencies across the state.

Demonstration of Emergency Response

A live demonstration of firefighting and rescue operations was conducted at Gandhi Maidan following the flag-off ceremony. Fire personnel carried out a mock drill simulating a fire incident in a multi-storey structure.

According to officials, the exercise involved rescuing people stranded on the rooftop after a fire broke out in the lower floors of the building. Firefighters first controlled the blaze and later used ladders and rescue equipment to evacuate those trapped above.

Female firefighters also participated in the operation, demonstrating rescue procedures and emergency preparedness during the exercise.

The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister later inspected the newly inducted vehicles and reviewed the functioning of various firefighting equipment displayed at the venue.

Government Focus on Investment and Governance

Addressing the gathering, Samrat Choudhary said Bihar’s development depended on industrial growth and improved infrastructure.

“We must steer Bihar onto the path of prosperity. Prosperity will only be realised when industries and businesses are established here,” the Chief Minister said during the programme.

He also appealed to people from Bihar living outside the state to return and invest in businesses and industries.

Samrat Choudhary said the government was working towards attracting investments worth Rs 5 lakh crore to the state. Referring to law and order, he stated that Bihar remained committed to good governance and that the police force had been strengthened to ensure effective enforcement of the law.

Officials said the addition of the new vehicles is expected to improve mobility, response time and operational efficiency of the state’s fire services, particularly during urban fire emergencies and rescue operations.
