Patna: Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced that model schools would be established in every block of Bihar as part of the state government’s plan to strengthen public education and improve academic standards in rural areas.
Addressing a programme organised at the Bihar Legislative Council during the 143rd birth anniversary celebrations of Veer Savarkar, Choudhary said the schools would be developed to such a standard that students currently studying in private and convent institutions would seek admission there.
He said the government’s aim was to ensure quality education reaches every village across Bihar.
Officials Asked to Stay in Villages
The Chief Minister directed government officials to spend at least two days every month residing in villages to better understand Bihar’s heritage, rural life, and development challenges.
He said closer engagement with villages would help officials improve implementation of government schemes and address local concerns more effectively.
Remarks on Crime and Corruption
Speaking on law and order, Choudhary said crime should not be linked to caste identity, asserting that “a criminal has no caste”.
He said the government was committed to taking strict action against criminals irrespective of their social background and claimed police would respond within 48 hours in criminal cases.
The Chief Minister also warned that officials or individuals found involved in corruption would face legal action and could be sent to Beur Jail.
President to Be Invited for Tilka Manjhi Statue Unveiling
Choudhary said he would soon visit Delhi to request the President to unveil the statue of freedom fighter Tilka Manjhi at Tilka Manjhi University.
During the programme, a book titled Veer Savarkar Ki Jivani was formally released.
Call for Collective Responsibility in Bihar’s Development
The Chief Minister said Bihar’s large population made development a shared responsibility between citizens, industries, and the government.
He urged industrial groups to contribute to Bihar’s economic growth and appealed to residents to emotionally connect with the state’s development goals.
Choudhary said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working towards the vision of a “Viksit Bharat”, while the Bihar government was focused on building a prosperous state.
Veer Savarkar and Political Remarks
Referring to Veer Savarkar, Choudhary said the freedom fighter worked to strengthen nationalism and that his ideals should be implemented in Bihar.
He also said the contributions of several revolutionaries had remained overlooked for many years and described the Cellular Jail in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as a symbol of colonial-era oppression.
Targeting the Congress party, he said the Emergency period reflected an attempt to weaken democratic institutions.
Other Leaders Attend Event
MP Shivesh Ram said both Veer Savarkar and Babasaheb Ambedkar had worked to unite society and strengthen the nation.
Bihar Legislative Council Chairman Awadhesh Narain Singh described Savarkar as an inspiration for the youth and said his ideas would continue to guide the country during challenging times.
