Congress Targets 43 Bihar Leaders for ‘Anti-Party’ Behaviour in 2025 Polls, Setting Stage for a High-Stakes Crackdown

Party’s disciplinary committee demands written explanations by November 21, warns of six-year expulsion for non-compliance.

Patna: The Congress party’s disciplinary committee has served show-cause notices to 43 of its leaders in Bihar, alleging anti-party activities during the 2025 assembly election. According to a press release, the individuals reportedly made statements in the media and on public platforms that contradicted the party’s official position, causing “damage to the organisation’s image and electoral prospects”.

The notices were approved by Kapildev Prasad Yadav, chairperson of the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee’s disciplinary panel, who said all those named have been directed to submit a written explanation by 12pm on November 21, 2025.

“Failure to respond within the stipulated time will compel the committee to take strict action, including expulsion from the primary membership of the Congress for six years,” Yadav stated.

The disciplinary committee emphasised that party unity and discipline remain paramount, adding that any act perceived as undermining the organisation would be dealt with seriously.

Those served notices include a mix of former ministers, former MLAs, district presidents, spokespersons and senior office-bearers:

9. Bacchu Kumar Biru, president, Saran District Congress
10. Raj Kumar Rajan, former Youth Congress president
11. Nagendra Paswan Vikal, former Youth Congress president
12. Madhurendra Kumar Singh, AICC member
13. Pradyumn Yadav, president, State Sports Cell
14. Sakeelur Rahman, former vice-president, Bihar Congress
