Patna: The 10th edition of Dhrupad Sandhya, organised by Padmashree Pandit Siyaram Tiwari Smriti Sangeet Samiti (Nad-Vistar) in association with Gargi Chapter, commemorated the 27th death anniversary of the legendary Dhrupad maestro Padmashree Pt Siyaram Tiwari on Saturday.
The evening was inaugurated with IPS officer Vikas Vaibhav as chief guest, alongside guests of honour S.B. Rai, Dr Om Prakash Narayan, Dr Kishore Sinha and Dr Shyam Mohan.
In a highlight of the programme, the Lifetime Achievement Award (posthumous) was conferred on Padmashree Pt Ramkumar Mallick, recognising his outstanding role in nurturing and sustaining the Dhrupad tradition.
The cultural evening featured a pakhawaj solo recital by Kaushik Kumar Mallick of the Kudau Singh Baaj, accompanied by Sudhir Kumar Sharma on harmonium; a khayal vocal recital by Debojyoti Ghosh, with Anudip Dey on harmonium and Rajshekhar on tabla; and a Dhrupad vocal recital by Dr Samit Mallick of the Darbhanga gharana, accompanied by Kaushik Kumar Mallick on pakhawaj and Vansh Prabhat on tanpura.
Organisers said the event aimed to celebrate and preserve the rich heritage of Indian classical music while paying homage to Siyaram Tiwari’s enduring influence on generations of artists.
