Bhagalpur: After months of anticipation, Sandy’s Compound in Bhagalpur reopened on Friday, introducing a modest entry fee of Rs 10. The municipal authorities have promised a gradual expansion of the park’s facilities, with initial offerings including a children’s play area, a gym, swimming, and badminton courts.
The Municipal Commissioner, Shubham Kumar, inaugurated the new services on Thursday. Officials clarified that the fee will not apply to morning and evening walkers, and entry will be free after 4 pm, while visitors entering between 8 am and 4 pm will be required to pay Rs 10.
In a bid to streamline access for sports enthusiasts, local sports organisations have been asked to submit lists of their players. Passes will be issued, enabling them to practice at the ground upon presenting their pass.
Looking ahead, Sandys Compound plans to introduce additional attractions within two months, including a children’s horror show, a rain simulator, and indoor games. The authorities aim to create a diverse range of entertainment options catering to both children and adults, ensuring a more engaging experience for visitors.
A cafeteria is also expected to open after the upcoming Durga Puja festival, adding to the park’s recreational offerings.
