Patna:The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar has issued an advisory for candidates appearing in the NEET re-examination on June 21, warning them against cyber fraudsters and anti-social elements who may attempt to exploit students through false claims of paper leaks or access to question papers.
The agency said fraudsters could use social media platforms, messaging applications and phone calls to spread misleading information and demand money from candidates in exchange for purported examination materials.
Candidates urged not to trust unofficial claims
According to the advisory, platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Telegram and WhatsApp may be used to circulate rumours related to the examination. The EOU said candidates should avoid engaging with individuals claiming to provide question papers, answers or other unfair means of assistance.
Students have been advised not to transfer money to unknown persons or respond to suspicious offers linked to the examination.
Report suspicious calls and messages
The EOU said any phone call, email, WhatsApp message or social media communication claiming to provide access to the question paper should be treated with caution.
Candidates who receive such messages have been asked to immediately inform the nearest police station or cyber police station.
Do not forward unverified information
The advisory also urges candidates not to share or forward unverified messages related to the examination. Officials said misinformation can spread rapidly online, creating confusion among students and affecting the integrity of the examination process.
If candidates come across social media posts claiming a paper leak, they have been asked to save the URL or relevant details and report them to the authorities.

Strict legal action for unfair means
The EOU warned that involvement in paper leaks, examination malpractice or the use of unfair means could attract stringent action under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
Under the law, offenders may face imprisonment of up to 10 years and fines of up to Rs. One crore. Relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 may also apply.
