Patna: Train services in Patna are slowly returning to normal as the effect of dense winter fog weakens across north India. For several days, thick fog had badly affected visibility, forcing trains to run at reduced speeds and causing long delays. Now, with clearer mornings and improved weather conditions, railway operations are showing steady improvement. Many passengers arriving at Patna Junction on Monday noticed shorter waiting times compared with previous days, offering a sense of relief after prolonged disruption.
Despite the improvement, not all trains managed to arrive on time. A few long-distance express trains were still delayed by one to four hours. The Magadh Express reached Patna around two hours and 25 minutes late, while the Poorva Express was delayed by more than three hours. Trains such as the Sampoorna Kranti Express, Tejas Rajdhani Express and Shramjeevi Express also arrived late, though the delays were relatively shorter than earlier in the foggy spell. Railway officials said these delays were due to foggy patches along certain sections of the routes.
At the same time, several important trains managed to maintain their schedules, bringing significant comfort to travellers. Services including the Danapur–Sanghamitra Express, Kumbh Express, Brahmaputra Express and the Secunderabad–Danapur Express reached Patna Junction on time. The smoother movement of these trains indicated that visibility had improved enough to allow normal speeds on many tracks, especially during daytime hours.
The railway administration said that if weather conditions continue to improve, train punctuality is expected to get better in the coming days. Passengers have been advised to stay updated on train timings through official railway websites or helplines before leaving home. While some uncertainty remains, the gradual lifting of fog has raised hopes that daily rail travel in and out of Patna will soon return fully to normal.
