Purnia: A shocking incident has come to light from Purnia district in Bihar where five members of the same family were burnt alive. The villagers accused them of practising witchcraft, which led to this brutal murder. The incident took place in Tetgama Ward 10 of Rajiganj Panchayat under Mufassil police station area.
The deceased have been identified as Babulal Oraon, his wife Sita Devi, Manjit Oraon, Rania Devi, and Tapato Mosmat. Only Babulal Oraon’s daughter survived as she somehow managed to escape and ran to her grandmother’s house. She told the family that her father, mother, and other relatives were beaten and burnt alive by the villagers. The attackers then threw their bodies into water.
According to locals, the violence started when a child in the village died during treatment three days ago and another child fell ill. People blamed Babulal Oraon’s family for practising witchcraft, leading to their murder. After the incident, many villagers fled their homes, and there is silence in the entire area.
Police teams from Mufassil and nearby stations, along with SP Sweety Sahrawat, reached the spot to investigate. Three people, including Nakul Kumar, have been taken into custody. He is accused of instigating the mob to burn the family alive. Police are interrogating the suspects and have assured strict action against those involved in this horrific crime.
