Patna: The water level of the Ganga continues to rise in Patna City, with floodwaters reaching roads and riverbank areas at several ghats. The road near Mahavir Ghat has been submerged, while water has also reached the steps at Bhadra Ghat and the raised platform area at Kangan Ghat.
The administration has stepped up vigilance along the riverbank and placed SSB, SDRF and NDRF teams on alert to respond to any emergency.
Mahavir Ghat Road Submerged
At Mahavir Ghat, water began touching the roadside on Friday and rose further by Saturday. The water has now spread across the road and reached the temple located near the riverbank.
Despite the water accumulation, vehicles are still moving along the riverside route between Gaighat and Kangan Ghat. However, authorities may restrict traffic on the stretch if the water level rises further.
Water Reaches Bhadra and Kangan Ghats
The rising Ganga has also affected other riverside areas. At Bhadra Ghat, the water has reached the steps leading towards the river.
At Kangan Ghat, the water has reached the chautal, a raised platform or courtyard area near the river. The development has increased concern among residents living close to the riverbank.
The sub-divisional administration is monitoring the water level and the condition of the affected ghats.
Rescue Teams Kept on Alert
In view of the rising water level, SSB, SDRF and NDRF teams have been instructed to remain alert. The teams are prepared to respond quickly if the situation worsens or an emergency arises.
Administration Issues Safety Advisory
Authorities have urged people to exercise caution around the Ganga and follow safety instructions at the ghats. Residents and visitors have also been advised to avoid bathing in the river if possible and remain alert to changing water conditions.
With the Ganga continuing to rise, officials are closely monitoring the situation and assessing whether additional restrictions will be required in the affected riverside areas.
