Patna/Gopalganj: Thousands of residents in rural Gopalganj could soon benefit from improved road connectivity as the Bihar Rural Works Department moves ahead with a proposal to construct and upgrade 104 rural roads across the district.
According to the department, the project is estimated to cost Rs 201.82 crore and will cover around 208.90 kilometres of roads. Technical approval has been completed, and the proposal has now been submitted for administrative approval. Once cleared, the tendering process will begin before construction starts.
What the Project Includes
The Rural Works Department said the scheme aims to strengthen road infrastructure in several parts of Gopalganj by constructing new roads and upgrading existing ones.
Officials said the proposed network of 104 roads will improve access between villages and key public facilities, including markets, schools, hospitals and block headquarters.
The project is expected to cover a combined length of nearly 208.90 kilometres.
Five Blocks Expected to Benefit
According to the proposal, the largest benefits are expected in the blocks of Bhore, Hathua, Uchkagaon, Phulwariya and Vijayipur.
Improved roads are expected to reduce travel time for residents and make transportation easier for farmers carrying agricultural produce, students travelling to educational institutions, patients seeking medical care and local traders moving goods to markets.
Officials said better connectivity could also improve access to government services and public infrastructure in rural areas.
Hathua Division Accounts for Most of the Project
The proposal prepared by the Hathua Division of the Rural Works Department accounts for a substantial portion of the scheme.
According to the department, 83 roads with a combined length of approximately 189.01 kilometres have been proposed under the division at an estimated cost of Rs 181.29 crore.
The remaining roads form part of the broader district-wide infrastructure plan.
Key Roads Identified
Among the roads included in the proposal are:
Singha–Atwan Durg Road
Trilokpur–Balaghara Road
Sisai–Bangra Road (via Rampur/Bhore)
NH-80 Itwa–Sabeyan Road
Panchfeda–Uttar Pradesh Border Road (via Ekdanga)
According to officials, these routes have been identified to improve connectivity between villages and major transport corridors.

Officials believe the project could contribute to better access to education, healthcare and markets while encouraging trade and employment opportunities in rural Gopalganj.
