Patna: The railway authorities have announced a partial cancellation of the 15080/15079 Gorakhpur–Gorakhpur–Patliputra Express between April 10 and 28, citing operational reasons.
According to a statement from the North Eastern Railway, the service will not run on Tuesdays and Fridays during this period. The decision effectively suspends operations on select days over an 18-day window.
Rail officials have advised passengers to check train status before starting their journey and said they regret the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption.
The train, which connects Gorakhpur with Patliputra, passes through key stations including Nayagaon, Dighwara, Mashrakh and Gopalganj, and is widely used by daily commuters along the route. Officials said the selective cancellations may affect regular travellers, though services will continue on the remaining operating days.
In a separate development, work on a new railway bridge in Mokama, running parallel to the existing Rajendra Setu, is nearing completion and is expected to become operational in June.
The structure is in its final phase of construction, with linking work underway to integrate it with the Patna–Jhajha main line. Once operational, it is expected to improve connectivity between northern and southern parts of the state.
Officials said the bridge has been built using modern engineering techniques and will be capable of supporting high-speed services, including Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat Express trains.
