Sonepur: The Bihar government has begun land survey and demarcation work for the proposed Hariharnath Corridor in Sonepur, a project estimated to cost Rs 680 crore. Officials have initiated the exercise to prepare for the next phase of development, which is expected to improve facilities for pilgrims and strengthen religious tourism in the region.
The administration has deployed six surveyors (Amins) to carry out boundary identification, land measurement and verification of revenue records. Officials said the survey is essential before construction-related work can move forward.

Land Survey Underway
According to officials, the survey team is identifying land boundaries and matching existing revenue records with on-ground conditions. The process is intended to ensure that future stages of the project proceed without legal or administrative hurdles.
The project is expected to improve access to the Hariharnath Temple while supporting local economic activity through tourism-related employment.
Survey Presents Administrative Challenges
Officials said the survey is particularly complex because the temple precinct is surrounded by a densely populated area. Differences between historical land records and the current status of properties could require careful verification during the exercise.
The administration has stated that the survey will be conducted transparently to minimise disputes and maintain accuracy in land demarcation.
Planned on the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor Model
The Hariharnath Corridor is proposed to be developed on the lines of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor in Varanasi. The Bihar government plans to invest around Rs 680 crore in the project to upgrade infrastructure around the temple and improve the overall pilgrimage experience.
Officials expect the completed corridor to attract more visitors from across India and overseas, while generating employment opportunities for local residents through tourism and related services.
