Patna: The Bihar government has taken a major administrative decision by transferring five IAS officers and giving additional responsibilities to two more. The order was issued on Sunday evening by the General Administration Department. This reshuffle is considered an important move to improve the functioning and efficiency of several major departments across the state.
According to the notification, 1993-batch officer Mihir Kumar Singh has been appointed as the new Development Commissioner. His appointment follows the retirement of S. Siddharth. Before this transfer, Mihir Kumar Singh was serving as the Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department. His new responsibility shows the government’s focus on boosting development-related work in Bihar.
The reshuffle also includes other significant transfers. C.K. Anil of the 1991 batch has been shifted from the Bihar State Planning Board to the post of Principal Secretary of the Revenue and Land Reforms Department. Similarly, Deepak Kumar Singh of the 1992 batch, who earlier served as Additional Chief Secretary in the Rural Works Department, has now taken charge as the Director General – Investigation Commissioner in the General Administration Department.
More senior officers have also received new roles. Kundan Kumar of the 2004 batch has been transferred from Bihar Bhawan in New Delhi and appointed as Secretary of the Industries Department. In addition to this, he will also hold extra charge of his previous responsibilities. In another order, Sanjay Kumar Singh of the 2007 batch has been made Secretary of the Commercial Tax Department, while Kaushal Kishore of the 2010 batch has been posted as the Divisional Commissioner of Darbhanga Division. Raj Kumar, also from the 2010 batch, has been shifted from Muzaffarpur to take over as Secretary of the Transport Department.
This large-scale reshuffle is being viewed as a strong push by the state government to bring more effectiveness, faster decision-making and improved delivery of services. All the officers have been asked to take charge of their new positions without delay so that work in the departments continues smoothly.
