Patna: Heavy rainfall has swept across parts of north India, with Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh experiencing wet and windy conditions on Friday. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted rain in Bihar, with the northern districts of the state likely to see showers early next week.
According to the IMD, light rain may occur on January 29, in East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, and Saran districts. Strong winds are expected alongside the rain, potentially affecting neighbouring areas as well.
Before the expected showers, most of Bihar is forecast to remain dry. Winter chills persist across the state, with night temperatures continuing to hover below 10°C in many regions. Rajgir in Nalanda district recorded the lowest temperature at 7.3°C in the past 24 hours. Other cities, including Aurangabad, Gaya, Buxar, Sheikhpura, and Sabour in Bhagalpur, also saw temperatures below 10°C. In Patna, the minimum temperature fell to 12.4°C, a drop of one degree from the previous day.
Since Thursday night, a shift in weather patterns has been observed across north-west India. In Delhi, the National Capital Region, western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan, rain began early in the morning, accompanied by cold winds. Heavy rainfall in Delhi has caused disruption for commuters and residents alike, as the city adjusts to the sudden weather change.
The IMD has advised people in the affected states to remain cautious and take necessary precautions, including carrying umbrellas and monitoring weather updates.
