Patna: The second edition of IIChE ChEMATHON 2026 concluded on Sunday at Indian Institute of Technology Patna, bringing together chemical and allied engineering students from institutions across India. The three-day event saw enthusiastic participation from teams presenting innovative ideas and solutions aimed at addressing real-world challenges through chemical engineering.
Addressing the winners and participants during the valedictory ceremony, T. N. Singh, director of IIT Patna, said chemical engineers today play a crucial role in shaping society through innovation and practical solutions. He noted that industries increasingly value individuals who can translate ideas into products that benefit society, adding that competitions like ChEMATHON encourage students to assess their capabilities and push their intellectual limits.
The closing ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests and academics, including Mithilesh Kumar Jha, principal of Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology, along with Avijit Ghosh, Sujoy Kumar Samanta, Mahendra Ram, Jose V. Parambil, and Anoop Kumar Gupta. Faculty members, staff and students also attended the ceremony, marking the culmination of the competition.
The contest proved highly competitive, prompting the jury to declare joint winners for all three positions. Team Sustainers and Team Bio-Lumen shared the first prize, while Team RIT and Team Ventus jointly secured second place. Catalyst Crew and Ex Loop finished third.
Winning teams received cash prizes, certificates and mementos, while all other participants were awarded certificates of participation in recognition of their efforts. Organisers said the competition aims to encourage collaboration, critical thinking and innovation among young engineers preparing to enter the evolving chemical industry.
