Patna: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna organised its Virtual Open House 2026 for candidates who qualified in JEE Advanced 2026 and their parents, offering a detailed introduction to the institute’s academic environment, research ecosystem, campus life, and admission process.
The event witnessed participation from aspiring students and families from across the country. It aimed to help candidates make informed decisions during the admission process by providing insights into academic programmes, research opportunities, entrepreneurship initiatives, hostel facilities, student activities, and placement prospects.
Director Highlights Academic and Research Growth
Welcoming the participants, T. N. Singh, Director of IIT Patna, congratulated the successful JEE Advanced qualifiers and extended his best wishes to their families.
He highlighted the institute’s academic achievements and expanding research capabilities, encouraging students to consider IIT Patna among their preferred choices for higher education.
- K. Thakur, Dean Administration, provided an overview of the institute’s academic and administrative framework, outlining various initiatives and student support facilities. Sudhir Kumar, Chairman JEE, IIT Patna, also addressed the participants and welcomed them to the session.
Academic Programmes and Opportunities Explained
Sushant Kumar, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programmes), presented details of the institute’s undergraduate courses, curriculum structure, and academic opportunities available to students.
Subrata Hait, Associate Dean (Postgraduate Programmes), discussed IIT Patna’s dual-degree programmes and explained the academic benefits offered through integrated study pathways.
Heads of academic departments also participated in the programme and shared information about their respective disciplines, research areas, and career prospects.
Student Life, Placements and Campus Facilities Discussed
To familiarise prospective students with campus life, Miraj Kulkarni, Vice President of Gymkhana, and Arvind Jha, President of Gymkhana, spoke about hostel facilities, student clubs, technical and cultural festivals, sports activities, and the overall student experience at IIT Patna.
Sunil Kumar Singh, Meghna Dutta, Ajay Kumar Thakur and P.K. Srivastava also addressed the gathering.
Rishabh Singh and Kripa Shankar Singh presented an overview of the institute’s placement and internship ecosystem, highlighting opportunities available across disciplines. Rahul Mishra introduced participants to the institute’s information technology infrastructure and facilities available through the Computer Centre.
Interactive Session Addresses Admission Queries
The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session in which faculty members and senior officials responded to queries related to academics, admissions, placements, campus facilities, and student support systems.
For the 2026–27 academic session, IIT Patna will admit students to 817 seats through JEE Advanced. The institute currently offers 12 four-year B.Tech./B.S. programmes, eight B.Tech.-M.Tech. dual-degree programmes, and 12 B.Tech./B.S.-MBA dual-degree programmes.
The event was moderated by Vijay Kumar, Deputy Registrar (Academic), and attended by Santosh Kumar, Assistant Registrar, along with faculty members and institute officials.
The institute also informed participants that interested students may visit the IIT Patna campus in person to explore its laboratories and infrastructure facilities.
