Patna: A Seminar and Outreach Programmed focusing on the provisions and practical issues related to Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) was organized today at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Patna. The event witnessed participation from over 50 officers and officials of the Finance Department, along with faculty members of IIT Patna.
The seminar aimed at sensitizing Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) and attendees about critical TDS-related matters including the timely deduction of TDS on various payments, punctual filing of quarterly TDS returns, and timely issuance of TDS certificates. A comprehensive discussion addressed core TDS concerns as well as broader Income Tax issues, providing clarity and guidance to the participants.
The programme was graced by distinguished speakers from the Income Tax Department, Patna, including Dr. Ajay Kumar Shukla, JCIT, TDS Range Patna; Raj Gaurav, ACIT, TDS Circle-Patna; and Mahesh Kumar Rao, ITO (TDS), Ward-Patna. These experts elucidated various Income Tax provisions and responded to queries raised by the attendees.

Prof. T.N. Singh, Director of IIT Patna, felicitated the guest speakers with mementos and shawls as a token of appreciation. Prof A K Thakur, Dean Administration IIT Patna, expressed gratitude to the TDS team and all participants for their engagement.
During the seminar, the importance of timely filing of Income Tax Returns by both employers and employees was emphasized. The speakers elaborated on the tax rates applicable for the current and upcoming financial years under the new tax regime. Additionally, the consequences of bogus claims of deductions were highlighted, urging employers to foster voluntary compliance and discourage wrongful claims.
The seminar was conducted using a PowerPoint presentation, supplemented by a short video showcasing the achievements of the Income Tax Department, further enhancing awareness and understanding among participants.
This initiative marks a significant step in improving tax compliance and knowledge among key stakeholders, reinforcing the collaborative efforts between the Finance Department and IIT Patna.
