Patna: Political exchanges in Bihar have intensified following the latest cabinet reshuffle, with Janata Dal (United) leaders dismissing opposition criticism over key ministerial allocations. Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, a senior JD(U) figure, said the new cabinet formed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was “well-balanced”, claiming it offered representation across “every region, every language and every district” of the state.
Prasad rejected objections raised over the appointment of deputy chief minister Samrat Choudhary to the Home Department. He argued that the JD(U) continued to oversee “major and important departments”, including finance and commercial tax, which he said would be central to the administration’s pledge to generate one crore jobs and increase state revenue.
Another JD(U) leader, Neeraj Kumar, insisted that ultimate authority remained with the chief minister, adding that Choudhary had already made clear he intended to follow Kumar’s governance approach. He dismissed opposition allegations concerning the reshuffle as politically motivated.
Prasad also said the government’s ambition was to place Bihar among the top 10 most developed states over the next five years, adding that the new cabinet was working collectively to accelerate progress.
