Patna: Newly appointed Bihar cabinet minister Deepak Prakash has signalled a focus on transparency, accountability, and youth employment in the state’s Panchayats. Speaking after meeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Prakash described it as “a privilege” to work under his leadership and emphasised his commitment to learning from senior leaders.
“It is a matter of great fortune for me to work under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. We are learning a lot, and I still have much to learn from all the senior leaders,” Prakash said following the meeting, adding that the chief minister had offered his blessings and best wishes for the new role.
Assuming office as the minister for Panchayati Raj on Saturday, Prakash outlined plans to address irregularities in rural development projects and improve efficiency at the grassroots level. A key initiative will be the formation of monitoring committees at the Panchayat level, comprising local workers from various political parties.
“The objective of these committees will be to monitor the quality of work, prevent complaints, enhance transparency, and accelerate project completion,” he said, describing the move as essential to ensuring accountability in rural development.
In his first official review meeting with department officials, Prakash also highlighted the generation of employment opportunities for youth as a top priority, signalling an emphasis on inclusive development alongside administrative strictness.
