Membership Target Achieved Ahead of Schedule
According to Sanjay Kumar Jha, the party achieved its first major membership target before the scheduled timeline.
He said the number of primary members reached 1,00,01,925 by June 2, 2026. The JD(U) leader attributed the achievement to the party’s organisational network and the efforts of workers engaged in the campaign across Bihar.
Jha said party workers had been actively conducting the membership drive at the booth level and played a crucial role in helping the organisation reach the target.
He also thanked residents of Bihar who joined the party in large numbers during the campaign.
Focus on Grassroots Expansion
The JD(U) leadership believes the membership campaign will help strengthen the organisation at the village, panchayat and booth levels.
Party leaders said the drive is aimed at expanding the party’s grassroots presence and increasing organisational outreach across the state.
Jha stated that under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, the party remains committed to its stated goals of development, social justice and public welfare.
Membership Figures Seen as Indicator of Organisational Strength
The party expressed confidence that the membership drive would continue to expand in the coming months, further strengthening its organisational base.
Political observers often view membership figures as an indicator of a party’s organisational reach and grassroots mobilisation capacity. Such campaigns are also considered an important measure of electoral preparedness and cadre strength ahead of future elections.
The JD(U) has not yet announced a revised membership target following the achievement of the one-crore mark.
