Patna: Patna’s JP Ganga Path is set for a significant visual upgrade as part of the Patna Smart City project, with large-scale beautification work underway along the riverside road. One of the centrepieces of this development is the installation of grand 20-foot-high decorative gates that will mark the entry points of the path and highlight the cultural importance of the Ganga.
Officials confirmed that work has already begun on preparing these structures. The gates will be built with modern designs, sturdy construction and powder-coated finishes for long-lasting durability. Their appearance will be enhanced with stainless steel engravings featuring 11 mythological names of the Ganga—an effort aimed at creating a deeper emotional connection between locals, visitors and the river’s cultural heritage.
High-quality façade lighting will be installed on both sides of the gates, giving the entire stretch a majestic look after sunset. To add to the riverside attraction, a special sign marking the Ganga Bank Food Street will also be placed at the main entry point, helping strengthen its identity and draw more footfall to the area.
Authorities say that once the final locations are approved, the installation of these gates will begin at full pace. They believe that this project will significantly enhance the beauty of the JP Ganga Path and encourage tourism. The gates will carry the names Bhagirathi, Dev Nadi, Mandakini, Sursarita, Jahnavi, Dhruvananda, Nadishwari, Amartarangini, Devpaga, Tripathaga and Alaknanda.
