Patna: A contemporary art exhibition featuring the works of 15 accomplished Bihari painters has opened at the Passport Seva Kendra in Patliputra, Patna, bringing a new cultural dimension to the city’s government spaces. Organised by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Regional Office in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, the exhibition is titled Kalpana Ki Sugbugahat: Showcasing Diversity in Contemporary Art.
The exhibition, running until September 25, aims to introduce daily visitors of the passport office—approximately 1,500 applicants—to the world of contemporary art, often restricted to galleries and private collections. Swadha Rizvi, Regional Passport Officer and Senior Indian Foreign Service Officer, said: “This is a small effort to bring art from the elite to public spaces, increasing understanding and appreciation among the people of Bihar.”
Although primarily intended for passport applicants, the exhibition is also open to other visitors by prior request through the exhibition coordinator.

Kalpana Ki Sugbugahat presents a broad range of perspectives, media, and themes, exploring identity, memory, and belonging in a rapidly changing world. Through painting and sculpture, the exhibition fosters dialogue and reflection, highlighting the collective creativity of the region’s artists and the role of art in everyday life.
