Patna: The anticipatory bail plea of Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, has been listed for hearing on July 3 after the Patna Civil Court directed the Investigating Officer (IO) to submit documents relating to the weapon licences of the educator’s two personal security guards.
The court also extended its interim order protecting Khan Sir from arrest until the next hearing.
Court Seeks Licence Records
The direction came during proceedings in a case arising from a dispute involving Khan Global Studies, the coaching institute operated by Khan Sir at Musallahpur Hat in Patna.
During the hearing, the prosecution alleged that both security guards were carrying illegal firearms during an incident on the night of June 2 and that shots were fired to create panic.
The defence rejected the allegation, maintaining that both firearms were legally licensed. Counsel for Khan Sir told the court that the police had already seized the relevant weapon licences and associated documents during the investigation.
Investigating Officer Directed to Produce Documents
After hearing submissions from both sides, the court instructed the Investigating Officer to produce the seized weapon licences and related records before the court on July 3.
The documents are expected to help the court determine whether the firearms carried by the two security guards were legally licensed at the time of the incident.
Interim Relief Continues
The court extended the interim stay on Khan Sir’s arrest until the next hearing, allowing the protection from arrest to remain in force until July 3.
The anticipatory bail plea of the two security guards is also linked to the proceedings.
Previous Hearing Focused on Case Diary
At the previous hearing on June 27, the court granted time to the Public Prosecutor and counsel representing Roshan Anand, director of Gyan Bindu Institute, to examine the updated case diary.
During that hearing, counsel for Khan Sir requested an early disposal of the anticipatory bail application, arguing that repeated adjournments were delaying a decision.
July 3 Hearing Expected to Be Crucial
The July 3 hearing is expected to focus on the documents submitted by the Investigating Officer and the findings of the investigation so far.
Based on the records and arguments presented, the court is expected to consider whether anticipatory bail should be granted to Faisal Khan and the two security guards.
