Kishanganj: In a major anti-drug operation, the police recovered around three quintals (300 kg) of ganja from Pekatola village in the Tedhagach police station area, near the India-Nepal border. Acting on a tip-off, the police launched a raid and successfully seized the large consignment of narcotics hidden in sacks in nearby bushes.
Tedhagach police station in-charge Mohammad Izhar Alam said they received specific information about suspicious items concealed in the area. Under the leadership of Additional Police Station in-charge Santosh Kumar, swift action was taken, leading to the discovery and recovery of the massive drug haul.
The seizure has sent shockwaves through the local smuggling networks, as the village is located in close proximity to the India-Nepal border, a known transit point for illegal narcotics. Authorities believe this could be part of a larger smuggling operation. The police have confiscated the ganja and launched an investigation to trace the origin and intended recipients of the consignment.
SDPO Gautam Kumar, who also reached the scene to oversee the operation, praised the quick response and effectiveness of the police team involved in the recovery.
Additional Police Station in-charge Santosh Kumar and Sub Inspector Vikas Kumar led the operation, alongside other police personnel including Sub Inspector Dheeraj Kumar and ASI Saroj Singh. SDPO Gautam Kumar visited the Tedhagach police station following the raid, reviewing the situation and commending the officers for their successful operation.
