Patna: Film actors Kranti Prakash Jha and Neetu Chandra have been appointed as state sweep icons by the Election Commission in Bihar ahead of the assembly elections expected in October-November this year. The Bihar Election Department confirmed their nomination as part of efforts to strengthen the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (Sweep) campaign.
Both actors, who hail from Bihar and have worked in multiple Bollywood films, will engage in various voter education and awareness activities to encourage higher turnout in the upcoming polls. Their nomination was formally approved by the Election Commission of India.
The commission is aiming for 100 percent voting in the state and has undertaken a thorough revision of the voter list after 22 years. Names of deceased voters, those who have permanently shifted out of Bihar, and illegal voters are being removed. The final voter list will be released on September 30, after which election dates will be announced.
Kranti Prakash and Neetu Chandra are expected to play an important role in motivating citizens to participate in the democratic process through public campaigns, digital outreach, and on-ground events in the coming months.
