Patna: As political temperatures rise ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan alias Lallan Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Monday led a 30-kilometre roadshow from Pandarak to Mokama in support of JD (U) candidate and former MLA Anant Singh, who remains lodged in Beur Jail in connection with the Dularchand Yadav murder case.
The high-energy roadshow saw both leaders standing atop an open jeep, waving to supporters lining the route. Crowds gathered across villages and market areas as the convoy, adorned with party flags and posters, moved through key stretches of the Mokama Assembly constituency.
Lallan Singh, who has taken charge of Anant Singh’s campaign following his arrest, interacted with voters and appealed for support, asserting that the NDA government under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi would return to power.
“This incident involving Anant Singh did not happen spontaneously. Several videos have surfaced that indicate a conspiracy. The police are investigating, and I urge them to expose everyone involved,” Lallan Singh told reporters during the campaign.
Accompanied by Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary, the Union Minister said the people of Bihar had “immense faith in Nitish-Modi leadership” and would reject the opposition’s attempts to “spread confusion.”
Meanwhile, the Border Security Force (BSF) conducted flag marches across Mokama throughout the day to maintain law and order in the wake of recent violence.
The Election Commission also announced an administrative reshuffle, appointing IPS officer Aparajit Lauhan as the new Superintendent of Police (SP) of Patna Rural, replacing Vikram Sihag, who was removed following the Dularchand Yadav murder incident.
